Dikran Chekian – President
Major: Business Administration-Entrepreneurship

This year will mark the end of my college career. Upon graduation, I will be involved in managing the family business. Last year, as an active member in the Armenian Youth Federation, I gained valuable leadership skills, which I feel will help guide this year’s ASO into newer places. I have BIG plans for the members this year-they are my number one concern. I have been waiting for the opportunity to get a chance to lead this organization, and now I have been given that opportunity. The members will not be let down!

I am a fourth year student at Fresno State. I was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on November 5, 1982. I am a co-DJ alongside DJ Sevag and Tatev on the Hye Oozh radio program. Also, I have been very involved for the past three years in the Armenian Students Organization. Outside of the campus, I am involved in the Armenian Youth Federation and Homenetmen. One of the things that I make definite in my busy schedule is to lift weights and keep my body in shape by running, walking, and eating everything in sight.

Reasons for running for the ASO executive: I wanted to contribute my ideas to the ASO and assist the club in any way possible. In addition to this, I truly wanted to bring something different to the club, with different ideas, views, and outlooks.
Hopes for the ASO: I have really high hopes for the ASO this year and believe that the apparent high levels of enthusiasm shown by the entire executive committee makes it obvious that we’re all excited to be a part of this organization. Also, I would like to increase the membership of the organization and create a positive environment for all the members.

I am a sophomore hoping to contribute to the ASO however I can. I plan to be very active in the club and leave my mark. I have found the ASO to be a wonderful way to make new friends. It also creates a great social atmosphere. So I encourage everyone who reads this to join. Chess, basketball, and belote, are some of my hobbies. I love to watch “The Simpsons” whenever I have free time. One of many favorite quotes, “There are those who curse the darkness, and then there are those who simply light a candle.”
Gevork Aristakesyan – Public Relations/Historian

I was born in Yerevan, Armenia. I moved to America in 1990 and am currently a junior. I am involved with the basketball team for St. Paul Armenian Church and am on the staff for Hye Sharzhoom. The reasons why I joined ASO were to contribute my abilities to the school and to the students and also learn more about myself. As an executive member I hope to help plan fun activities and educationals for the members. What I plan on gaining is the experience of working with groups, and a better understanding of my heritage and culture.
