Staff Report
Fresno State alumni Jeff and Jason Ahronian have established an annual scholarship in the Armenian Studies Program at Fresno State.
Jeff and Jason wanted to give back to the community which has helped them out with so much over the years. They believe it is important that students learn about the rich Armenian culture and history and the hardships their ancestors faced in establishing themselves in this community.
“We feel so strongly about this that we have spent countless of hours over the years creating numerous exhibits at the Fresno County Historical Museum (located at the Fresno Fair) showcasing the history of Armenians in Fresno County,” said Jeff and Jason. “We encourage everyone to check out our website www.armeniansfresno.com.”
Jeff and Jason both graduated from Fresno State: Jeff with a degree in Finance and Jason with a degree in Agricultural Business. Their parents also both graduated from Fresno State as well as their sister, Jill (Mazmanian). The Ahronians support the school’s athletics program via the Green V Society and have attended almost every home football and basketball game since the 1980s. When at Fresno State, both Jeff and Jason were active in the Armenian Students Organization. Jeff wrote for the Hye Sharzhoom and served as Editor in Chief for two years.
The ASP appreciates the establishment of the Ahronian Scholarship in Armenian Studies.
