Prof. Barlow Der Mugrdechian met with U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina A. Kvien on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Prof. Der Mugrdechian was in Yerevan to participate in the International Armenological Congress, organized by the Matenadaran.
Amb. Kvien began her service in Armenia in February, 2023, as the tenth U.S. Ambassador to Armenia.
In a Fresno connection, Ambassador Kvien moved to Fresno with her family at age three, and attended Gibson Elementary, Tenaya Middle School, and Bullard High School.
She was happy to serve in Armenia because she knew a lot of Armenian-Americans growing up in Fresno.
The Ambassador and Prof. Der Mugrdechian discussed various topics including U.S. initiatives in Armenia.
Prof. Der Mugrdechian discussed his visit to Armenia and his participation in the International Armenological Conference, held at the Matenadaran.
Prof. Der Mugrdechian invited the Ambassador to visit the Armenian Studies Program at Fresno State on her next visit to Fresno.
