Staff Report

Shant Postoyan, a former California State University, Fresno student and member of the Armenian Students Organization, recently completed three months of Marine Corps basic training at Camp Pendleton in San Diego. Postoyan chose to join the Marines to gain the hands-on experience that the military offers. “The Marine Corps is the most challenging branch in the service and I wanted that challenge,” Postoyan said. He will soon begin training as a communications specialist.

Postoyan enlisted for a service term of four years but does not plan on being a career Marine at this time. When his service ends, Postoyan will be close to earning a Bachelor’s Degree and plans on using his degree and training to seek a job with a federal agency

Just being in basic training has taught me a lot of life’s lessons. I look at things differently and appreciate things more,” Postoyan said.
